The Akademy mainly focuses on Half-pipe and Slope-style; athletes are trained to compete at a very high level at events such as World cups, Grand Prixs, World Junior Championships and many other amateur level events in Canada. Since the Akademy started 4 years ago we have had many World Cup starts, recently Tanner Davidson placed in the top 5 for slope-style. We have represented Canada at the World Junior Championships, Erin Lee placed 11th last summer in New Zealand and 10th in 2011 in Italy. Throughout this past season we have had one or more of our riders on the podium in every contest at an amateur level.
In the training season, athletes are expected to travel a lot and in order to run a full year of training we try to go to New Zealand for 3 weeks in August. It is exhausting on the athlete’s bank accounts and we work very hard to provide a high level of training for these athletes at a generous price each year.
I hope we can count on you to attend the event and give generously to these athletes as they try to reach their potential. If you can not make it to the event we are also open to donations as well.
